Participate in National Bike to Work Day in Lakewood

Are you looking to exercise more? Or be more environmentally conscious? Well May is National Bike Month, and in particular, the third Friday of the month is national bike to work day. The city of Lakewood is looking to get its resident involved with the event and officials are encouraging people from Lakewood to break out their bikes this month.

 

Sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists, bike to work day is celebrated by communities across the nation and typically draws a huge number of people who bike to work. Started in 1956, National Bike Month showcases the health and eco benefits of bicycling and the impact it has on the local community.

Join the City of Lakewood’s 5/10 K Runs

The City of Lakewood will host its annual run on Saturday, March 5 2016 when residents from across the city come together for a 5k, 10k, and 1k “Fun Run”. The event sponsors the Lakewood Sheriffs Stations various charity efforts and is an excellent way to get fit while impacting your community.

 

Runners can register online at RaceWire at www.lakewoodrun.com/registration or download the PDF sign-up form at www.lakewoodrun.com/registrationform for paying with a check or to sign up a team. Registration will cost between $35 and $40 depending on the dates and prices changes. The races begin at 8am on race day and each finisher will receive a medal and shirts. So if you are looking to get back into running shape, there is still more than enough time to train for this great community event.
