Things To Do this Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend is not only a time to take a day off from work; it’s also a time to reflect on the economic and social achievements of the hard working Americans of the past and present. We have a couple suggestions for your holiday weekend!

Lakewood, California has plenty to do for the weekend warriors, like heading out to Round One Entertainment! Located in the Lakewood Mall, there’s everything from arcades, to bowling, to good food, plus so much more. It’s fun for the entire family and a good thing to do inside during the heat wave happening this weekend! If the heat wave doesn’t bother you, you could pack up your beach gear and take the short drive over to the shore! Beat the heat with the cool ocean waves and have the kids get all that weekend energy out.

Regardless of what you choose to do, all of us here at Lakewood Manor Apartments hope you have a very safe weekend!

How To Make Valentine’s Day Special For Long Time Couples

For those couples who have been in a relationship for a long time, keeping the spark alive and burning does take a bit of work. With life moving as fast as it does, we can all neglect our relationships from time to time–which is why Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to connect and fall in love all over again. Here are a few tips to try.

Hold hands: holding hands is an intimate gesture that can get lost in older relationships. Make an effort to touch, hold hands, hug and be in each others spaces during your date night. The closeness will create extra intimacy.

Put your phone away: phones can be a romance killer. It’s so easy to check your phone every few minutes and avoid intimate conversations. Leave the phones in the car, look each other in the eye and talk to each other.

Long walk: long walks are the stuff romance is built on. After dinner find a pier and go for a long walk and talk about life, your hopes, dreams, and desires. Nothing will make your relationship stronger.

Lakewood Living: Holiday Shopping Tips

What! You haven’t finished Christmas shopping yet? Well, don’t panic (ok, maybe you can panic a little), there’s still a week left to get those last minute gifts. But with online shopping and countless malls in every city, there will be plenty of opportunities to find great deals on presents. Here are a few holiday shopping tips to try.

Dont’ Shop Without a list: the key to holiday shopping is to make a list. Wandering aimlessly through the mall will take up extra time and cause you to waste more money. And to top it off you might end up purchasing gifts you are not happy with, so map everything out in your head before ever stepping foot in a store.

Use Your Smartphone: download a coupon app or the app from the actual store you’ll be shopping at to find various discounts you wouldn’t get otherwise. You can even shop from an app and then pick up the items in store.

Don’t shop all at once: In a recent study from Yale University researchers found making a purchase triggers a “shopping momentum effect” which is an impulse to buy more items If you’ve ever shopped before, you probably didn’t need a study guide to tell you that. So to save money spread your shopping over two days in order to combat that impulse.
